Tools for work and the outdoors
Hultafors covers several everyday jobs with purpose-specific hand tools. Its measuring and marking range includes folding rules, tape measures, squares and markers, while cutting tools include work knives, outdoor knives, saws and axes. The company began in 1883, when Karl-Hilmer Johansson Kollén developed the folding rule. The Folding Rule 59 continues that tradition: its wooden sections have Swedish steel joints, a metric scale and a protective water-based lacquer. Other folding-rule models use different materials, including anodised aluminium or fibreglass-reinforced polyamide, so the choice can depend on the working environment.
Choosing a Hultafors knife or axe
Craftsman’s Knife HVK is a fixed-blade work knife for everyday site cutting. Hultafors also makes outdoor knives for field use. The Outdoor Knife OK4 has a 3 mm Japanese carbon-steel blade with a Scandi grind, a protective coating and a long tang extending into the handle. The tang supports batoning, while the grind is designed to be easy to resharpen. The folding Outdoor Folding Knife OKF is a more compact carry option, with a coated stainless-steel blade, black-coated aluminium handle, side-button lock and reversible belt clip. Hultafors knives are designed and developed in Sweden and manufactured by a long-time partner in Asia.
For camp tasks, the Ågelsjön Mini Hatchet has a short handle and light format for packing, while the Hultån Hatchet suits campsite work such as processing firewood and building shelter. The Åby Forest Axe has a longer handle and is intended for a broader mix of wood processing, shelter building, carving and precision work. A splitting axe is the more task-specific choice for splitting logs. Hultafors also offers saws and striking tools, extending the range beyond measuring and cutting.
