Chris Reeve founded Chris Reeve Knives in 1984 in Durban, South Africa, and a few years later moved to the United States, where the company still operates today, with its headquarters in Idaho. It all started small – handcrafted knives made in a garage – but thanks to Reeve’s uncompromising standards and persistence, his name quickly gained recognition among knife enthusiasts and professionals.

From the beginning, Reeve’s vision was simple: to create knives that are precisely finished, practical, and durable. This philosophy is also reflected in the company’s motto: “Think Twice, Cut Once.”

Over the years, Chris Reeve has been behind many innovations in the knife industry. The most famous is the R.I.L. – Integral Lock (frame lock), which has become an industry standard. The company also collaborated with Crucible Industries to develop new steel types, including CPM-S30V and S35VN, which helped revolutionize knife materials.

As a testament to quality, CRK has received numerous awards, including the Blade Show Manufacturing Quality Award more than 15 times. In collaboration with designer Bill Harsey Jr., iconic models such as Green Beret and Pacific were created, renowned among both collectors and field users.

Today, Chris Reeve Knives is one of the world’s most respected knife makers. Every knife is still hand-finished in Boise, Idaho, and each model continues the same legacy: knives you can rely on for a lifetime.
