Spyderco was founded in 1978 in Golden, Colorado. Spyderco created many features that are now common in folding knives, including the pocket clip, blade serrations and Spyderco's trademark opening hole. They have been collaborating with many custom knifemakers, athletes, and self-defence instructors around the world. Spyderco has pioneered the use of 20 different blade materials, including CPM-SV60V, CPM-S90V, H-1 and others. The company invests a lot in research and development in order to keep producing the high-quality reliable cutting tools designed and manufactured for peak performance and ergonomic comfort.
The Spyderco Canis is a robust and resilient folding knife designed primarily for tactical use. With its exceptional cutting power, it also makes an excellent EDC knife. The design was strongly influenced by Kelly McCann, one of the world’s leading counterterrorism experts.
The Canis features a Wharncliffe blade with narrow bevels, a reinforced tip, and a spine cutout for reduced weight. The blade is made from CPM S30V powdered steel, a premium alloy developed collaboratively by Chris Reeve and Crucible Steel. This material offers outstanding hardness (HRC 58–61), excellent wear resistance, and long-lasting edge retention. Corrosion is no problem for this steel, which is why many consider it one of the best EDC blade steels in the world.
The handle combines carbon fiber and G10 composite with stainless steel liners, complemented by a strong and reliable Compression Lock, making the knife extremely sturdy.
A four-position pocket clip adds versatility for carrying.
