Spyderco was founded in 1978 in Golden, Colorado. Spyderco created many features that are now common in folding knives, including the pocket clip, blade serrations and Spyderco's trademark opening hole. They have been collaborating with many custom knifemakers, athletes, and self-defence instructors around the world. Spyderco has pioneered the use of 20 different blade materials, including CPM-SV60V, CPM-S90V, H-1 and others. The company invests a lot in research and development in order to keep producing the high-quality reliable cutting tools designed and manufactured for peak performance and ergonomic comfort.
This version features Spyderco’s own CPM-SPY27 powder metallurgy steel, a premium blade steel that combines excellent wear resistance and good toughness with outstanding corrosion resistance.
The leaf-shaped blade features a full-flat grind and measures approximately 8.5 cm in length. Opening is quick and convenient using Spyderco’s signature Round Hole. The handle scales are made from fiberglass-reinforced FRCP polymer, while the coarse texture provides a secure grip in all kinds of conditions. At the heart of the stainless steel frame is Spyderco’s patented locking mechanism: the Ball Bearing Lock is a ball-bearing-based system that is not only strong but also exceptionally secure.
The snake-like Spyderco Manix 2 combines Spyderco’s patented mechanisms with high-quality materials. The result is a versatile knife that is also well suited to somewhat more demanding use.
