Spyderco was founded in 1978 in Golden, Colorado. Spyderco created many features that are now common in folding knives, including the pocket clip, blade serrations and Spyderco's trademark opening hole. They have been collaborating with many custom knifemakers, athletes, and self-defence instructors around the world. Spyderco has pioneered the use of 20 different blade materials, including CPM-SV60V, CPM-S90V, H-1 and others. The company invests a lot in research and development in order to keep producing the high-quality reliable cutting tools designed and manufactured for peak performance and ergonomic comfort.
The Spyderco McBee is a remarkably compact folding knife that proves size isn’t everything. Despite its tiny footprint, this knife handles everyday light cutting tasks with surprising efficiency and precision.
Its saber-ground Wharncliffe blade is made from CTS-XHP steel, a premium alloy with high carbon and chromium content. This steel is celebrated for its well-balanced performance: excellent toughness, reliable cutting power, and strong corrosion resistance. It’s also low-maintenance and easy to keep sharp. The blade opens effortlessly with Spyderco’s trademark Round Hole, allowing smooth one-handed operation.
The handle scales are stonewashed titanium with a matte finish, ensuring both durability and refined aesthetics. A secure Reeve Integral Lock provides reliable blade retention, while the titanium liners reinforce the structure.
Designed by Jonathan McNees—a U.S. Navy veteran, outdoorsman, and skilled knifemaker—the McBee is based on his popular “Killer B” model. At just 48 grams and only 6 cm when closed, it’s proof that even the smallest knives can pack serious capability.
