Spyderco was founded in 1978 in Golden, Colorado. Spyderco created many features that are now common in folding knives, including the pocket clip, blade serrations and Spyderco's trademark opening hole. They have been collaborating with many custom knifemakers, athletes, and self-defence instructors around the world. Spyderco has pioneered the use of 20 different blade materials, including CPM-SV60V, CPM-S90V, H-1 and others. The company invests a lot in research and development in order to keep producing the high-quality reliable cutting tools designed and manufactured for peak performance and ergonomic comfort.
The Spyderco Ark – Always Ready Knife is a compact neck knife designed with expertise by U.S. Army veteran John Shirley together with his friend Sam Owens.
Their goal was to create a self-defense knife that could be carried discreetly, remain instantly accessible, and yet serve everyday purposes as well. Thanks to its cutting power, the Ark is also well suited for home or garden use.
The sharply curved Clip Point blade offers a strong, needle-sharp tip. It is crafted from nitrogen-based H1 stainless steel, a material virtually immune to rust while combining hardness with exceptional toughness.
The injection-molded FRN handle ensures a secure, non-slip grip – even with wet hands. A polymer sheath with cord is included, making it easy to wear the knife around the neck.
Despite its full-tang construction, the Spyderco Ark weighs only 24 grams, making it an ultralight companion. The Ark is also available with a serrated SpyderEdge blade.
