Spyderco was founded in 1978 in Golden, Colorado. Spyderco created many features that are now common in folding knives, including the pocket clip, blade serrations and Spyderco's trademark opening hole. They have been collaborating with many custom knifemakers, athletes, and self-defence instructors around the world. Spyderco has pioneered the use of 20 different blade materials, including CPM-SV60V, CPM-S90V, H-1 and others. The company invests a lot in research and development in order to keep producing the high-quality reliable cutting tools designed and manufactured for peak performance and ergonomic comfort.
Originally introduced in 1999, the Spyderco Dyad Jr. Lightweight makes a welcome return as a limited-edition Sprint Run model. This classic dual-blade design has been updated with Spyderco's proprietary CPM SPY27 particle metallurgy steel and modern screw-together construction for easier maintenance and servicing.
The knife features two blades designed for different cutting tasks. The serrated SpyderEdge sheepfoot blade excels at cutting rope, webbing, and other tough fibrous materials, while the full-flat-ground clip point blade offers outstanding precision for everyday cutting chores. Both blades open smoothly using Spyderco's Trademark Round Hole and lock securely with their own independent Back Lock mechanisms.
The lightweight FRN handle scales feature Spyderco's signature Volcano Grip™ texture for a secure, non-slip grip. Their distinctive cobalt blue color is a hallmark of Spyderco's CPM SPY27 family and gives the knife a unique appearance.
