Choosing a Work Sharp sharpener
The Knife & Tool Sharpener Mk.2 is a powered belt sharpener for maintaining knives and other edged items at a bench. Its guides set 20° or 25° sharpening angles, and the included coarse, medium and fine belts support work from edge repair to refinement. A separate cassette accommodates scissors. The Ken Onion Edition Knife & Tool Sharpener Mk.2 adds a seven-speed motor, an adjustable 15°–30° guide and a wider choice of belt grits. Its variable speed and angle range offer more control for different blades and sharpening tasks.
Precision Adjust is a manual benchtop system for customers who want to set an angle and hold a knife in a clamp while sharpening. Its angle adjusts from 15° to 30°, and its rotating abrasive handle carries coarse and fine diamond plates and a fine ceramic surface. The Guided Field Sharpener is designed for portable maintenance: coarse and fine diamond plates handle sharpening, ceramic rods address plain and serrated edges, and a leather strop helps refine the edge. Built-in 20° and 25° guides support consistent strokes without a bench.
Abrasives, design and support
The different abrasive formats suit different setups. Powered belt systems move an abrasive belt over the blade, while Precision Adjust and the field sharpener use plates or rods that the user moves along the edge. Coarser abrasives remove material more quickly for worn edges; finer abrasives and ceramic or leather surfaces help refine an edge. The Guided Field Sharpener also includes a hook groove and broadhead wrench for outdoor gear.
Work Sharp designs, engineers and calibrates its sharpening machines in Ashland, Oregon, and sources materials from suppliers in the United States and internationally. This manufacturing background applies to the company's design and calibration work, not to a claim that every product is made in Oregon. The named sharpeners carry a three-year warranty.
