Knivsmed Stromeng Samekniv 9 with fingerguard knife
Knivsmed Strømeng produces authentic Sámi knives and leukus in the spirit of deep tradition – in fact, driven by it. The company is based in Karasjok, deep in Norway’s Finnmark region, right in the heart of the Arctic North.
The Samekniv 9F is the largest and most heavy-duty leuku in Strømeng’s lineup – now equipped with a large finger guard for added safety. It’s built for demanding tasks such as splitting firewood, processing large game, clearing brush or building shelter. The guard provides extra control and protection during heavy or slippery work.
Its long 23 cm carbon steel blade delivers power and durability. The wide-ended oiled birch handle provides a secure grip, even with gloves. Brass fittings and a thick leather sheath with traditional Sámi decoration complete this northern tool.
The Sámi leuku is more than just a knife – it’s a symbol of life in the Arctic. According to legend, such knives were believed to have magical properties, even healing powers. Samekniv 9F carries on this legacy – and meets the needs of serious users in the modern wilderness.
