Peltonen Knives M95 Ranger Puukko, composite sheath
J-P Peltonen is a man who knows knives — and the conditions in which a proper knife is truly needed. He originally designed the Sissipuukko while serving in the Finnish Defence Forces. The Sissipuukko M95 is a superb military knife — but one that meets the needs of civilians as well.
The Sissipuukko is a classic Finnish tool: a versatile companion built for the wilderness and extreme conditions. Many remember it from their military service for others, it’s a familiar work tool from field duty. Hunters use the Sissipuukko to process game, and campers rely on it by the evening campfire.
The knife features a thick blade made of coated carbon steel. Coating protects the otherwise rust-prone carbon steel from corrosion and reduces friction and dirt adhesion. The blade withstands heavy use and is easy to resharpen when needed. In the M95 version, the blade length is 15 cm.
The TPV (thermoplastic vulcanizate) handle feels almost rubber-like and is virtually indestructible. It resists wear, impact, chemicals, and temperature changes. It’s also highly recyclable. Special attention has been given to the handle’s shape and texture — it offers a secure grip even with wet hands and stays firmly in hand in all conditions.
One of the Sissipuukko’s standout features is its innovative sheath. In this version, the sheath is made of durable composite plastic. A rubberized roller mechanism keeps the knife securely in place without the sheath loosening over time. When needed, the knife can still be drawn quickly with one hand. The Velcro-fastened belt loop fits MOLLE systems and allows for upside-down carry on, for example, a backpack strap. Designed for both right- and left-handed users.
J-P Peltonen’s Sissipuukko M95 is both a wilderness companion and a reliable tool for professionals.
