J-P Peltonen knows knives well — and also the conditions where a proper knife is needed. Peltonen designed the ranger knife while serving in the Finnish Defence Forces. The ranger knife M95 is an excellent military knife — that also meets civilian needs.

The ranger knife is a typical Finnish tool for versatile use — a helper in the wilderness and extreme conditions. Many remember it from the army, and for many it is a familiar tool in official duties. Hunters handle game with the ranger knife, and campers use it by the campfire.

The thick blade is made of carbon steel coated with PTFE. PTFE (Teflon) protects against corrosion, reduces friction, and prevents dirt buildup. The coating also meets food safety certification requirements. The blade withstands tougher use and is easy to sharpen when needed. The M95 version has a blade length of 15 cm.

The TPV handle (thermoplastic vulcanizate) feels rubbery. The material is practically indestructible — it resists wear, impacts, chemicals, and weather and temperature changes. It also has excellent recyclability. Special attention has been paid to the handle’s design and texture — it stays firmly gripped even with wet hands and endures harsh conditions.

This version has a durable composite plastic sheath. The composite sheath is lightweight but strong and highly abrasion-resistant. Its rubber roller mechanism keeps the knife securely in place and prevents sheath loosening with use. The knife can be quickly drawn with one hand when needed. A MOLLE-compatible velcro belt loop allows convenient carrying — for example, on a backpack strap. Suitable for both right- and left-handed users.
