Captain of Finnish defense forces, Jukka-Pekka Peltonen designs and makes a series of ranger knives known as sissipuukko. J-P Peltonen knife is a master piece of simplicity, including the strong blade with teflon coating and superb sheath.
The traditional leather sheath offers an alternative way to carry the Ranger puukko knife. The very strong sheath is made of durable leather and reinforced with rivets. The knife sinks into the sheath about one-third of the handle and stays so firmly that it can be carried even upside down.
The sheath has a thumb support, allowing the knife to be drawn with one hand. Inside the sheath is a plastic lining that protects the leather from the blade’s cutting edge and tip. There is a drainage hole at the bottom.
The sheath can be carried in several ways. It comes with a strap equipped with Velcro and a hanger. On the back, there is a metal ring through which the strap is threaded. The strap goes under the belt and fastens with Velcro. Because the Velcro is between the user’s body and the belt, it is practically impossible to lose the sheath. On the front of the sheath, there is an additional leather piece fixed with rivets. The strap can also be threaded under it if desired. This way, the knife can be carried horizontally on the belt.
