Blade is a clad of SLD which is equivalent to the high carbon steel, normally referred to as SKD11 in Japan.
"Clad" means laminated or composite steel bonding stainless steel to both sides of carbon steel. SLD is superior in tensile strength, wear resistance and edge retain. It provides performance of razor sharp. The image of Japanese classical forging press is well depicted by the random pattern stamped on the blade.
