Böker Germany

Started from a small hardware factory of the Böker family in Germany in the 17th century, Böker became famous in 1869 when they launched their tree-brand knives developed in cooperation with the well-known cutlery-expert Hermann Heuser. The history of Böker has been affected by eventful times, but two things remained: passion and enthusiasm for extraordinary knives. Böker was one of the first companies to offer ceramic knives as a featured product line.

Description

The various versions of the Boker Applegate-Fairbairn have been convincing special forces all over the world for years and have emerged as an icon among tactical knives. The knife goes back to the classic Fairbairn-Sykes dagger from World War II and was designed by Col. Rex Applegate. The elite soldier coordinated secret operations throughout Europe during the war and even became President Franklin D. Roosevelt's personal guard. He trained Allied Special Forces in close combat and founded the "School for Spies and Assassins" in today's Camp David. Later he continued to work as a consultant and trainer, wrote numerous books about close quarter combat and began to develop and improve the perfect combat knife.

The fiberglass-reinforced Delrin handle with integrated stainless steel weights rests solidly in your hand, the brass cross-guard and the 440C blade can handle every task. Delivery with a Kydex sheath and a large Tek-Lok.

This is a historically-significant knife. It is available in a number of versions from Boker via Lamnia, who are an efficient seller of Boker knives and who provide speedy delivery. This knife is the Second Pattern of the original knife, which was designed by Rex Applegate and Captain Fairbairn as a "second generation" fighting knife, with the intention that it would replace the Fairbairn-Sykes Commando Dagger. It didn't end up replacing the Commando Dagger (which is still on sale in its Third Pattern design and is issued to the British Royal Marines Commandos as their "ceremonial issue" fighting knife, although it is seldom carried in battle these days). The idea of this knife was that it should be as effective as the Commando Dagger, but with a substantially more robust blade and fitted with a brass cross-guard. The knife is engraved/etched on the blade with the signatures of the two men who designed it, and it was used by the original American Special Forces (although they were referred to as the OSS at the time). It is a working, beautifully-made piece of history. Ironically, the makers (Boker) are German, but their workmanship is superb and makes them a worthy manufacturer of the knife. I had to have one for my collection. Five Stars.

I love the quality feel and everything about this knife. The history of it is something that most other knives are unable to match. This is a collectors item. Everything from the packing, delivering time and costumer service is spot on. I also love this shop. They are giving us a superb selection of quality items. And it is a European company. Full score 💯
