The president and founder of Edge Pro, Ben Dale, inherited his sharpening skills from his father. Over a 10-year period he sharpened over 10,000 knives and built 100 knife sharpener prototypes. Accumulating experiences from years of strictly sharpening and designing, Ben Dale created an extremely easy to use and professional sharpening system that can take the dullest knife and put a perfect edge on its blade. The company’s headquarters are located in Hood River, Oregon, USA.
The Edge Pro Water Sharpening Stone is a sharpening stone designed for use with the Apex sharpening system. The abrasive consists of aluminum oxide in a medium-hard bond. The stone is mounted on an aluminum backing plate and ready to install in the sharpening system.
Soak the stone in water for 5–10 minutes before use. During sharpening, a slurry of water and abrasive particles forms on the surface of the stone, allowing it to remove metal efficiently while maintaining good control. The water prevents both the stone and the blade from overheating and helps achieve a high-quality sharpening result. Water stones are also suitable for sharpening very hard steels.
Edge Pro water sharpening stones are available in five grits: 120, 220, 400, 600 and 1000 grit, allowing you to choose the right stone for different stages of sharpening:
120 grit: Extra-coarse stone for repairing damaged or very dull edges
220 grit: Coarse sharpening stone
400 grit: For general sharpening
600 grit: For removing marks left by previous sharpening stages
1000 grit: Fine finishing and polishing stone
