Rick Hinderer began his knife making journey in the mid 1980's making art knives. After joining the rescue dive team, Rick began to look at knives and their designs more as hard use tactical tools than pieces of art. Was really excited to get this knife, and it looks stunning. Unfortunately the blade was too stiff to open one handed - on investigation I found that all the Black coated blades in this model have the same issue. Anni at Lamnia was fantastic and tested another one they had in stock- it had the same problem! I exchanged it for the XM Slippy with the Slicer blade and Lamnia checked it was ok before shipping, and all is fine. Regardless of the above, the XM Slippy is a lovely little knife - very comfortable in the hand, nice and sharp and small / light enough for EDC. If you’re not bothered about a one handed opener this is the better blade option as is a bit stronger. If like me you prefer one handed opening, go for the XM Slippy Slicer! It’s expensive for what you get, but your paying for a Hinderer...
