The Cold Steel SRK (Survival Rescue Knife) is, as its name suggests, designed to be a survival knife for even the most demanding conditions. It has long been popular among military personnel and law enforcement officers. For many years, it has also been part of the standard equipment of the U.S. Navy SEALs.
The 15 cm clip point blade is made from SK5 steel, a Japanese high-carbon steel that offers excellent sharpness and wear resistance. Despite its hardness (HRC 62–63), it is extremely tough and impact-resistant. Sharpening requires some skill, but fortunately, the SRK retains its edge for a long time, so resharpening is rarely needed. Naturally, high-carbon steel will rust if not properly maintained, but with regular care, rust can be kept at bay and this sturdy knife will serve its user for years. The blade is coated with Cold Steel’s black Tuff-Ex finish, which slightly improves its corrosion resistance.
The textured Kray-Ex handle ensures a secure grip, and the snap-fastened polymer sheath makes storage and carrying easy.
