Naturally, there are several variations of this Cold Steel classic. The Tanto SK5 model is made from Japanese high-carbon SK5 steel. SK5 steel is hard (HRC 62–63) yet exceptionally tough and impact-resistant. Sharpening is not the easiest task, but the Recon Tanto SK5 holds its edge for a long time. The blade measures almost 18 cm and is coated with a matte black Tuff-Ex finish, which slightly improves corrosion resistance. As with all carbon steels, regular maintenance is still required.
The Kray-Ex handle withstands heavy use, and its textured surface ensures a secure grip. The snap-fastened Secure-Ex sheath keeps the knife safe and makes it easy to carry.
