Riipi Puukko is a family-run enterprise established in the summer of 2014. The company is located by Lake Riipijärvi in the picturesque village of Riipi belonging to the Municipality of Sodankylä. Riipi Puukko makes high quality Lappish knives and other products. All products are made by hand using highest quality materials. Their knives convey the love of Lapland: its nature, tales, and Lappish magic!
This knife with the true spirit of Lapland has been named after Finland’s mythological forest spirit and god, Tapio. According to ancient beliefs, hunters prayed to Tapio particularly when hunting for big game animals was at risk of becoming dangerous. Tapio was asked for protection and good hunting luck, because he ruled the forests and game.
