Started from a small hardware factory of the Böker family in Germany in the 17th century, Böker became famous in 1869 when they launched their tree-brand knives developed in cooperation with the well-known cutlery-expert Hermann Heuser. The history of Böker has been affected by eventful times, but two things remained: passion and enthusiasm for extraordinary knives. Böker was one of the first companies to offer ceramic knives as a featured product line.
The Böker AK1 Drop Point MagnaCut Black Birch Burl is a compact fixed blade EDC knife that combines modern performance with a refined, natural appearance. Developed in collaboration with young German knifemaker Alex Kremer and Daily Customs, the AK1 is designed as a practical everyday cutting tool with clean lines, excellent ergonomics, and premium materials. This version pairs a MagnaCut steel blade with distinctive black birch burl handle scales, giving every knife its own individual grain pattern and character.
The drop point blade is made from powder metallurgy MagnaCut steel and hardened to approximately 62 HRC ±1. Known for its well-balanced combination of edge retention, toughness, and corrosion resistance, MagnaCut is particularly well suited to everyday use. Its fine metallurgical structure helps maintain a sharp cutting edge while remaining relatively easy to resharpen. The full tang construction provides excellent stability and control, while the ergonomic handle shape ensures a comfortable and secure grip during precise cutting tasks.
The black birch burl handle scales give the AK1 a warm, elegant appearance that contrasts with the technical performance of the blade. Because of the natural grain structure of the wood, every handle is visually unique. A reversible lanyard hole at the end of the handle can be repositioned when the scales are removed or completely recessed into the handle for a cleaner and slimmer configuration. Handmade at the Böker Manufactory in Solingen, Germany, the AK1 is supplied with a precisely fitted leather sheath for secure and lightweight everyday carry.
