Juha Perttula Village Smith Puukko, dark birch, 105
Village smith puukko did not have bolsters. Blades and handles were individually fitted together by burning a hole into the wood with the red hot tang, and after hardening, the tang was strictly hammered into the hole. (today epoxy is used).
Blade:
80CrV2 blade. The 3" (105 mm) long and 1/8" (3.3 mm) thick blade has wood carving V grind. The hidden tang has slots and it is epoxy glued into the handle.
Handle
The 4" (105 mm) long birch handle is treated with lampblack and linseed oil. The finishing is rough and brutal.
Sheath
The puukko is sold without a sheath
