Risto Mikkonen Vanax knife
Risto Mikkonen’s Vanax puukko is a rarity of its own kind. Essentially, it is a very traditional Finnish knife suitable for camping, carving, and all kinds of everyday carry (EDC) use.
What makes this knife special is the Vanax steel, which is rarely seen in Finnish puukkos. This powdered steel is an excellent choice for a knife used in constantly changing conditions. Vanax is not afraid of weather or moisture, and it keeps corrosion at bay incredibly effectively. The steel offers a superb balance of hardness and toughness, making it wear-resistant and able to withstand some stress (i.e., impacts). Despite its hardness, it is not difficult to sharpen at all. The blade length is 10 centimeters, which is an ideal size for a versatile outdoor knife.
The traditional Scandinavian look is brought by a beautiful curly birch handle with shiny brass fittings, and a sturdy leather sheath that holds the puukko firmly.
Risto Mikkonen’s Vanax puukko more than meets the needs of all outdoor enthusiasts. It is both traditional and unique. Thanks to the rare Vanax steel, it may also appeal to collectors. It is a perfect opportunity to gift a true handcrafted Finnish puukko to a knife enthusiast friend or relative.
