Helikon-Tex makes clothing and equipment for tactical, outdoor, urban, range and bushcraft use. Choosing a clothing system
The UTP range suits everyday wear and carrying small essentials in a low-profile cut. Pocket layouts vary by version; some include reinforced front pockets and knee-pad compartments. OTP pants are designed for outdoor activity, with a cut and materials intended to support movement on hikes and in the field. Depending on the version, they use VersaStretch or lighter VersaStretch Lite fabric. MBDU pants belong to a uniform system for field use and have a more overt combat-pant layout, including reinforced knees and space for knee pads. Stretch inserts in the crotch and rear yoke on selected NyCo Ripstop versions support mobility.
Materials and equipment
Materials differ across styles, so check the individual product details when comparing versions. Some UTP pants use PolyCotton Ripstop, a cotton-polyester blend with elastane; the ripstop weave helps limit the spread of small tears, while elastane adds flexibility. MBDU NyCo Ripstop combines nylon and cotton, with nylon contributing abrasion and tear resistance and cotton comfort. VersaStretch fabrics add four-way stretch to selected OTP styles, while the Lite version is lighter for warmer conditions. These are model-specific features, not specifications shared by every Helikon-Tex garment.
The range also extends to backpacks and bags for carrying equipment, pouches and first-aid kits, plus bushcraft clothing and accessories. The Swagman Roll is a multifunctional poncho in the Bushcraft line. Product lines make it easier to compare clothing and equipment for settings such as everyday use, hiking, shooting and forest camping.
