Santoku and Deba profiles
The Field Kitchen Knife Santoku is Snow Peak’s general-purpose kitchen knife for camp or home meal preparation. Its 165 mm stainless steel blade is suited to slicing vegetables, dicing ingredients and filleting fish. The rubber handle has a ribbed surface for grip, and a linen sheath protects the blade in storage. Snow Peak identifies this model as designed and made in Japan.
The Black Deba Knife has a different profile: its blade has a thick base and a thinner cutting edge. Snow Peak describes it for processing fish, vegetables and thicker meats and bones. The 150 mm blade is made from molybdenum vanadium steel with a polyester coating. A chestnut wood handle and a reinforced polyester-and-iron carrying case complete the design.
Integrated cutting board sets
For a combined knife-and-board setup, Snow Peak offers Cutting Board Set M and Cutting Board Set L. Both fold closed around the knife for transport and storage. The M set uses a compact petty knife with a stainless steel blade and plastic handle, suited to smaller preparation tasks. The L set includes a full-size knife with a high-carbon vanadium stainless steel blade and a black reinforced laminated plywood handle. Its folding natural-wood board provides a larger work surface and can be fitted into Snow Peak’s IGT table system.
Materials and choosing a set
Blade and handle materials differ across the range, so choose by knife profile and the type of prep you do rather than assuming one construction applies to every model. The Santoku’s rubber grip and protective sheath suit a versatile kitchen knife carried separately. The Deba’s thicker blade is intended for more demanding fish preparation. The M and L sets keep the board and knife together: M packs into a smaller format, while L provides more room for meal prep. The L board also has a magnet to help secure the knife inside when folded.
