Choosing a carry style
The Falcon-II 23L is a conventional backpack with two padded shoulder straps, sternum support and a waist belt to help carry its load. A Gearslinger, such as the Sitka, uses one padded shoulder strap. It can be rotated from the back to the front for access without taking the bag off, making this style useful when quick access to contents matters. The Sitka also has internal organization and space for a hydration reservoir. Versipack bags are crossbody designs, with a range of sizes and pocket layouts for carrying everyday essentials. Pocket organizers and medical pouches keep smaller items grouped, either inside a larger bag or attached to compatible modular webbing.
Materials and organization
Materials and construction vary by model. Many Maxpedition bags use abrasion-resistant nylon, but fabric weights and types differ across the range. On selected bags, triple polyurethane coating adds water resistance, while a Teflon fabric treatment helps repel grime. Reinforced stress points, including double stitching or bar tacking, support areas that take extra strain. YKK zippers, webbing attachment points and separate compartments are also used on selected designs. The combination of these features differs, so check the individual model for its fabric, layout and attachment system. Modular pouches let users arrange storage around specific equipment, while pocket organizers provide divided spaces for smaller everyday items.
Company background
Founded in 2003, Maxpedition developed bags that adapted elements of military MOLLE gear for everyday use. Its range now includes backpacks, single-strap Gearslingers, Versipack crossbody bags, travel and gear bags, and a selection of pouches and organizers. This variety lets shoppers choose between a larger carry pack, a bag that can be brought forward for access, or a compact organizer for smaller essentials.
