Choosing a size
Work Tuff Gear groups its knives into compact EDC, mid-size hunting and survival, and large chopper categories. EDC models are the smaller option for everyday carry. Mid-size knives offer a broader format for outdoor and field use, including hunting, bushcraft and survival tasks. Large choppers have more substantial blades for chopping. These are broad category distinctions; exact dimensions and features depend on the individual model.
Materials and configurations
The brand’s product listings show several blade steels, including Bohler K329 and SK85, as well as models listed with N690 Cryo and UHB-AEB-L. K329 is a modified A8 tool steel that Work Tuff Gear describes as high in toughness, with good wear resistance and moderate stain resistance. SK85 is a high-carbon steel. Check each model’s listing for its exact steel rather than assuming all knives share the same blade material.
Handle options vary too. Configurations include G10 and canvas micarta, with different textures, colors and finishes. Selected knives come with a Kydex sheath; other configurations may use different sheath materials. These details can differ between versions of the same model, so compare the specific configuration when choosing.
Company and warranty
Work Tuff Gear is a family-owned business founded in 2018 and based in Taichung, Taiwan. The company states that it makes knives and outdoor tools in Taiwan. Its published knife warranty covers defects in materials and workmanship for six months after purchase. It excludes normal wear and misuse, among other limitations, so it is not coverage for damage from hard impacts or using a knife as a pry bar, chisel or hammer.
