Buck knives

Buck makes folding and fixed-blade knives, with a range that includes long-running classic designs as well as newer variations. Models differ in blade steel, handle materials and construction, so shoppers can compare options for different carry preferences and tasks.

The 110 Folding Hunter and smaller 112 Ranger are folding knives suited to outdoor use and everyday carry. For a fixed blade, the 119 Special has a longer blade and is designed for hunting and other outdoor tasks. Selected versions of each model offer different materials and configurations.

Choosing a Buck knife

The 110 Folding Hunter is a full-size folding knife with a clip-point blade. Its smaller counterpart, the 112 Ranger, keeps a similar traditional profile in a more compact format. Both are available in different configurations, so check the specific version for its blade steel, handle and features. For a fixed blade, the 119 Special has a six-inch clip-point blade and a leather sheath in classic configurations. Its longer blade and fixed construction make it a different choice from the folding 110 and 112 for hunting and outdoor tasks.

Materials and company background

Materials vary by model and configuration. Classic versions of the 110 and 112 use 420HC stainless steel blades, Crelicam ebony handle inlays and brass bolsters. The standard 119 Special uses a 420HC blade and is offered with phenolic or Dymalux Cocobolo handles; the handle and fittings differ between versions. Selected Pro models use S35VN steel and green canvas Micarta handles. These examples are not shared specifications across the full Buck range, so compare the details of the individual knife.

Buck traces its knife-making history to founder Hoyt Buck, who made his first knife in 1902. The family-owned company introduced the 110 Folding Hunter in 1964. Buck’s Forever Warranty covers defects in materials and workmanship for the life of the knife, but excludes normal wear, misuse and product modifications.
