Outdoor clothing for different conditions
Abisko is Fjällräven’s lightweight trekking family. Its clothing includes trousers, shirts, layers and jackets for hiking, with styles designed for warm-weather use as well as more protective options. Abisko also includes tents: for example, the self-supporting Abisko View 2 is a two-person, three-season tent with two vestibules that open for ventilation. Keb clothing is geared toward demanding trekking. Keb Trousers combine stretch fabric with G-1000 panels and include ventilation zippers to help manage heat during active use. Greenland offers outdoor clothing for everyday wear and time outside; the Greenland Jacket, introduced in 1968, uses wind- and water-resistant G-1000 and has double fabric layers over the shoulders and elbows.
Materials and practical details
G-1000 is a blend of recycled polyester and organic cotton used in selected Fjällräven products, not throughout the entire range. In garments such as the Greenland Jacket, the fabric is wind- and water-resistant, and Greenland Wax can be applied to increase weather protection. Keb Trousers pair it with stretch fabric, balancing reinforcement and freedom of movement. Materials vary by item, so compare each product’s details when choosing clothing for a particular climate or activity.
Backpacks and company background
Kånken is Fjällräven’s best-known backpack family, created in 1978 to help reduce back problems among schoolchildren. The classic Kånken uses hardwearing Vinylon F and has a removable seat pad; laptop versions add a padded compartment and vary by computer size. Choose a Kånken for school, commuting or everyday carry, and look to trekking backpacks for longer trips and heavier loads. Fjällräven was founded by Åke Nordin in Örnsköldsvik, Sweden, in 1960. Its range has since expanded from backpacks to clothing and outdoor equipment, with the right choice depending on the intended activity, fit and conditions.
