Light My Fire outdoor kitchenware

The story of the Swedish company Light My Fire, making bushcraft equipment and cutlery and containers meant for outdoor eating, began from tinder sticks. However, the Doors song by the same name was not the inspiration for the founder, Michael Odqvist. Instead, he found the needed inspiration from Guatemala, where by selling so-called MayaStick tinder sticks Odqvist was able to help hundreds of poor Maya families, managing to enable the education of their children.

However, the product did not catch on in Sweden. Together with MayaSticks, an army magnesium lighter proved to be a success, and never before had lighting a fire been so easy or independent of weather and circumstances. The range of products grew along with the volume and the good reputation was spreading. A factory in Västervik, abandoned by Electrolux, was made into a space for production and in that same factory, many Light My Fire products that have gained a downright iconic status have been born.

The first product made in the factory was Meal Kit. To this day, it is one of the flagships of the company and good old FireSteels hold their own even as the world around is changing. The Spork spoon fork is also a downright classic.
