Choosing a model
The Malibu is the manual option: its button lock secures the blade open, and the flipper tab opens it without an automatic mechanism. It suits customers who prefer a manually operated folding knife for everyday cutting. By contrast, the TR-3 opens automatically with a push button and is listed in standard configurations with a 3.5-inch clip-point blade. Some variants add a secondary safety, so check the exact configuration for its features.
Stiletto profiles and materials
Godfather and Godson are automatic folders with an Italian-inspired stiletto shape. Their principal distinction is size: official listings describe a 4-inch blade for the Godfather and a 3.15-inch blade for the Godson. The Godfather is the longer-bladed choice, while the Godson is more compact. Blade shapes and steels vary across models and editions. TR-3 configurations include 154CM and MagnaCut; Godfather and Godson versions include 154CM, with other steels in selected editions. Malibu listings include MagnaCut blades in profiles such as reverse tanto and Wharncliffe.
Many standard configurations use aluminum handles, while selected versions feature titanium, stainless steel, carbon fiber or natural inlays. These differences affect the knife’s material and finish, but no single combination applies across the range. Compare the model number and individual listing to confirm its blade steel, profile, handle material and other features.
Made in the United States
Pro-Tech is a family-owned company that has made knives since 1999. It says most components are produced at its US facility, where processes include CNC machining, wire EDM and laser cutting. The company then hand-fits and finishes its knives, and handles sharpening and inspection in-house. Its small-batch production combines machine processes with hands-on assembly and finishing. To narrow the range, consider first whether you want manual or automatic opening and which blade size suits your needs, then compare the details of each configuration.
