Böker Germany

Started from a small hardware factory of the Böker family in Germany in the 17th century, Böker became famous in 1869 when they launched their tree-brand knives developed in cooperation with the well-known cutlery-expert Hermann Heuser. The history of Böker has been affected by eventful times, but two things remained: passion and enthusiasm for extraordinary knives. Böker was one of the first companies to offer ceramic knives as a featured product line.

The Boker Cox is beautifully made, with a rugged simplicity reminiscent of an old-fashioned jack knife. The sheeps foot blade shape is an excellent choice for UK users, since it is obviously non-aggressive. The hollow grind makes the cutting edge very thin, and it will take a razor -sharp edge. It also makes it very easy to open the knife without resorting to the nail nick; the spine is around 4 mm wide, creating a firm wedge-shaped grip. Why then does this knife warrant only three stars? I am afraid that the small nub on the handle which is intended, I should imagine, to act as a finger guard, is positioned in exactly the wrong place. The handle is too short to allow a decent grip with four fingers behind the guard, and the natural grip position leaves the index finger poised directly over the top of the guard, which is uncomfortable. This design failing was so irritating that I ground off the entire guard structure to create a single continuous arc from top to bottom of the handle. The grip now works perfectly, and the knife has become worthy of five stars. Keep this in mind if you are considering this knife, even if you have very small hands. The guard is entirely unnecessary on a slip joint folder of this size, and it does nothing but diminish functionality.

Маленькая прелесть. Функционал сомнительный, но как аксессуар - повертеть в руках, пощёлкать и т.д. - самое то. Преимущество - легален в Англии, Дании и др.
