Cuchillo Helle Dyre Vaa, Dark CB
First introduced in 1978, the Helle Dyre Vaa quickly became an iconic Norwegian knife of the 1980s. Its reputation grew after King Olav of Norway used it to cut the ribbon at the opening of the first winter road across Strynefjellet, earning the model its nickname: “The King’s Knife”.
To celebrate King Harald V’s visit to Askvoll municipality, Helle produced a limited run of 500 new Dyre Vaa knives in several variations. One was presented to the king, while the rest were made available to collectors and users.
The Dyre Vaa Dark CB features a long, elegant trailing point blade made from polished H3LS steel with a traditional Scandi grind. The dark-stained, oiled curly birch handle is framed by substantial brass fittings and leather spacers.
The knife comes with a classic ox leather sheath shaped to follow the curved blade. Instead of conventional stitching, the sheath is secured with a strong leather cord.
