Erik Nylund Puukko 402, Scrimshaw
Erik Nylund is an innovative Finnish knife maker who never hesitates to take on challenges. This knife is a testament to his exceptional craftsmanship and visionary approach.
The blade is made of RWL 34 steel, renowned for its hardness, strength, and excellent resistance to corrosion. The handle, crafted from reindeer antler, is adorned using the demanding Scrimshaw technique. This meticulous process involves multiple steps and requires a steady hand. After the design is engraved into the material with a tool, the carved lines are rubbed with ink. Excess ink is then wiped away, and the surface is polished. Colors can be added using different inks and pigments. Occasionally, Scrimshaw is finished with a clear sealant to protect the engraving. This knife features an elegant elephant motif as its decorative highlight.
Erik Nylund’s unique knife is a collector’s dream and an absolute must-have for anyone who values technical excellence and superior craftsmanship.
