Crafted in Karasjok, deep in the heart of northern Norway, the Samekniv 8 leuku is a robust wilderness knife rooted in centuries-old Sámi tradition. With over 200 years of knife-making heritage, Knivsmed Strømeng produces tools that reflect authentic Nordic craftsmanship.

This large leuku-style knife features a 205 mm carbon steel blade, ideal for demanding outdoor use. The broad handle is made from oiled birch, with a solid brass ferrule and finger guard for added safety. The traditional leather sheath is richly decorated.

In Nordic cultures, a knife is a time-honored and respected gift – unlike in some parts of the world, where it's seen as a bad omen. According to legend, Sámi knives were even believed to have healing powers.

Well made allround camp knife, made for normal use. With normal use it will surely serve you for a lifetime. The Fingerguard is nice to have. The knife sheath is unfortunately a bit cheap made, but o.k. for this price.

ein schönes, schlichtes Messer, was entsprechend seiner Bestimmung als Arbeitsgerät einfach tut, was es soll. solide Verarbeitung, gut zu handhaben, scharf, im Bedarfsfall leicht nachzuschärfen, als outdoor-utensil eigentlich ein Muss

The knife and the sheath are very well made. I am using it in my hunting area to clean the trail games, and to make lookout. The finger guard is really usefull and solid construction. The knife is not too heavy to work during a long time, the blade is razor sharp , strong and width enough (4cm on the belly). You can do batonning but I prefer an axe for that. A really good knife and serious brand.
