Overbuilt in terms of thickness (7.9mm at spine) but extremely aesthetically pleasing in proportions. Surprisingly light and comfortable in the hand for 430 grams. Perfectly balanced, right in front of the guard. More difficult hand sharpening on the stone with such a thick blade, better use a fixed jig. Factory edge grind is more inclined towards chopping wood (perfect for batoning), however, I've thinned the edge for a slicier sharpness. CPM3V sharpens very well and if you're not chopping wood, it will hold an edge for a long while. Will even julienne onions!

Recon Scout on loistava eräveitsi survival-tyyppiseen touhuamiseen. Varsinaisesti Bowie-veitsien tappelus-haaran edustaja tämä ei ole, terän jäädessä hieman lyhyenlännäksi moiseen puuhasteluun. Jos sellaista haluaa kuitenkin tällä harrastaa, voi kahvaan kiinnittää hukkaamisnarun, jolloin otettaan uskaltaa päästää enemmän kahvan peräosaan, ja veitsen kononaispituutta saa näin hyödynnettyä paremmin. Sama periaate toimii myös, kun veistä käyttää machete-tyyliin iskutyökaluna. Tasapainoisena veitsenä tämän käyttely on mukavaa, eikä veitsen koko häiritse liiaksi, vaikka suomalaiseen puukkoon tottuneelle tämä on varsin massiivinen kapistus. Kiehisten vuolu onnistuu tällä yllättävänkin hyvin, vaikkakin terällä on hamaravahvuutta lähes kahdeksan millimetriä. 3V-teräksestä valmistettuna tätä tuskin saa herkästi poikki tai terää vaurioitettua vaikka tällä saunanpesään koivuklapit pienisikin. Jos haluat tappelu-bowien, osta tämän isoveli Trail Master, mutta jos tarvitset järeän bushcraft-veitsen, tässä sinulla on hyvä sellainen!
