The Cold Steel Recon series has over the years become something of a classic. Designed especially for tactical use, these knives are reliable and durable companions even in demanding conditions. It is no coincidence that the Recon models are favored by professionals – they are particularly popular among military personnel and law enforcement officers, while civilians also appreciate their dependable performance in any situation.

This Tanto version features a high-carbon, chromium-rich CPM S35VN steel blade – an outstanding balance of hardness, toughness, and corrosion resistance, making it an excellent choice for a survival knife. The blade is coated with a matte-black DLC finish. It opens quickly with the ambidextrous thumb stud, and the patented Tri-Ad lock mechanism secures the blade in place. The handle scales are made of weather- and impact-resistant G10 composite. Its ergonomic, hand-conforming design ensures a secure and comfortable grip. Naturally, the handle is also equipped with a pocket clip for convenient carry.

Weighing 150 grams, the knife measures about 14 cm when closed.

Das Messer zu bewerten ist nicht ganz leicht weil es schon krasse Ausreißer hatte. Zuerst wollte ich das Messer wieder zurück senden. Das Öffnen und Schließen der Klinge war grottenschlecht. Es war, als befände sich Sand in den Lagern. Teilweise ließ sich die Klinge nicht korrekt in die Ausgangsstellung bewegen. Die Klinge stand dann etwas vor was ein nicht unerhebliches Verletzungsrisiko darstellte. Da ich das Messer aber gerne haben wollte habe ich es am Wochenende gefühlte 300x geöffnet und wieder geschlossen. Die Finger sind mir fast abgefallen aber durch diese Bewegung hat sich der Fehler gegeben und jetzt läuft es ohne Beanstandungen. Man müsste dem Messer eigentlich die volle Sternezahl geben aber der Ärger welchen man hatte lässt es nicht zu. Ansonsten ist es ein tolles Teil. Flippt man es auf dann knallt es richtig und das macht richtig Laune. Das Messer ist ab Werk sehr scharf und es wirkt ausgesprochen solide und robust. Aufgrund der großen Griffgröße lässt es sich sehr gut halten und bei der rauhen Oberfläche kommt es nicht ins rutschen. Es ist schon ein kleines Taschenschwert. Wer auf große Folder mit Charakter steht bekommt hier was richtig Gutes für sein Geld. Allerdings ist es am Anfang nicht ganz so toll wie es bei einem neuen Messer eigentlich sein sollte.

Нашёл свой идеал. Увлекаюсь ножами с 2007 года, были почти все известные серийные марки, от русских и китайских, до американских. В Cold Steel Recon 1 Tanto я нашёл для себя идеальный баланс: качество, красота, удобство, тактильные ощущения (да, я люблю грубую насечку), чёрный клинок, нож-танк, крепкий замок, отлично режет, брутальность, постоянное визуальное эстетическое удовольствие (я от него ещё не устал). Тяга к другим осталась, как и у любого ножемана, но, именно этот нож стал для меня ответом на вопрос, который задаёт себе любой любитель ножей: "Какой складной нож выбрать один на всю жизнь?
